Sage Gardener offers help for all sorts of gardeners: complete beginners, those with some experience and those who have horticultural qualifications already.
This page gives details of courses for groups. Some of these are run by us and others by other organisations. Please read the registration instructions carefully.
Some of our courses are suitable preparation for Royal Horticultural Society qualifications others are for hobby gardeners.
As well as the events listed here we also deliver talks to groups and are involved with community projects that offer introductory garden sessions or the chance to practice gardening skills, often free of charge. Please see the Potting Shed page for details of these.
We also offer supported self learning for those that wish to study at their own time and pace. Please see the Supported Self-learning page.
Breaking News! During 2013 we are hoping to be able to offer people opportunities to develop their practical gardening skills at a brand new teaching garden to be developed at the DesireChange retreat near Horncastle.

Royal Horticultural Society Level 3 Theory 3103

Management of Plant Health

The course covers the content of the module as specified by RHS. The full specification is available on the RHS Courses “Level 3 page”:http://www.rhs.org.uk/Courses/Qualifications/RHS-Level-3-qualifications.
The module carries 3 credits so will be run from 19.00 – 21.30 over six Tuesday evenings between 14 May and 18 June. There will also be a Saturday morning session, 9.30 – 12.30 on 8 June. This will involve a garden visit to help improve plant knowledge.
It is expected that students will have undertaken a relevant Level 2 Qualification.
Booking should be undertaken by 15 April. Please note places are limited – first come first served.
Before booking please read the Terms and Conditions
available in the Potting Shed. Separate booking for those wishing to undertake the examination will take place in April when the RHS examination fee of £20 will be payable but the £20 Sage Gardener administration fee will be waived for those having undertaken the course. The exam date is 26 June 2013.

Produce your own: Compost & Other Natural Plant Food

Join Dave Newman of Sage Gardener for an illustrated talk about making garden compost and other natural plant foods using largely sustainable and environmentally friendly methods. The talk will be followed by a visit to the Kitchen Garden to see examples of the techniques in action.

This is to register to take the above examination on the date stated.
The RHS registration fee of £25 is payable to Sage Gardener by all entrants.
Entrants who have not undertaken the relevant Sage Gardener course are also required to pay an administration fee of £25 and should contact us by email or telephone to discuss arrangements for the examination and payment of fees.
Closing date for entries is 1 May 2013
